Derma Roller literally refers to all the rollers used on the skin, and there is a type of microneedles, called Derma Roller Micro-needling System, originated in Germany, popular in Europe and America. This is a hand-held beauty instrument with 0.2-3.0 mm microneedles. The main function is to pierce the skin, destroy the cell structure of the skin, stimulate the skin to produce collagen, elastin fibers, and solve various skin problems.

Notes for Derma Roller:

1. Don't use it when you have acne. Acne is an acute skin inflammation. Using Derma Roller when the skin is inflamed may cause problems such as pus ulceration.

2. Don't use it when your skin feels painful. Sometimes the skin may not have acne, but there will be a tingling sensation. This may also be a manifestation of dermatitis, or the skin has been damaged (such as sunburn). At this time, you should also avoid using Derma Roller.

3. Don't use it when you have other skin diseases. Such as chickenpox, measles, folliculitis and so on.

If you are not sure about your condition, it is best to see a dermatologist first. All in all, you must ensure that your skin has no pathological symptoms before using Derma Roller, otherwise it will aggravate the condition.

Usage of Derma Roller:

1. Large pores

2. Wrinkles

3. Scars (acne pits, acne marks)

4. Stretch marks

5. Pigmentation

6. UV damage

Derma Roller microneedle length selection

The skin tissue is divided into 4 layers, namely the stratum corneum, epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous tissue. Microneedles of different lengths can pierce the skin tissues at different locations and produce different effects.

0.2 – 0.3 mm microneedles

The 0.2 – 0.3 mm microneedle is the shortest at present. The main function of this microneedle is to pierce the stratum corneum and create countless tiny channels, so that various skin care products can penetrate the stratum corneum and reach the epidermis. Let the skin absorb better. Microneedles of this length cannot stimulate collagen regeneration, so there is no legendary scar removal effect.

· Function: pierce the stratum corneum, allowing the skin to absorb skin care products better;

· Side effects: skin redness and slight tingling sensation in varying degrees;

· Use cycle: use every other day;

· Application area: whole face, including eyes and neck;

· Precautions: The intensity of use should be moderate, and excessive force should be avoided.

0.5 mm microneedle

0.5 mm microneedles are mainly used to treat fine lines, UV damage, superficial scars and hyperpigmentation. In addition, like 0.2-0.3 mm microneedles, it can also make the skin absorb skin care products better and faster, and achieve better results.

· Function: puncture the dermis to treat fine lines, ultraviolet damage, shallow scars and pigmentation;

· Side effects: dry skin, mild pain (more painful than 0.2-0.3mm), slight bleeding, skin redness and allergies in some people;

· Use cycle: once a week or twice a month;

· Application area: the whole face, avoid using it around the eyes if the skin is thin;

· Precautions: Pay attention to thoroughly disinfect the rollers and replenish water in time (it is recommended for beginners to use it from 0.2-0.3 mm).

1.5 – 2.0 mm microneedles

Microneedles with a length of 1.5-2.0 mm can already penetrate into the dermis, which is quite close to the subcutaneous tissue, and the damage to the skin is much greater than previously described. 1.5-2.0 mm microneedles can treat many skin problems, but they are usually not used on the face (unless it is a professional micro plastic surgery institution). It is also not recommended for beginners to use it directly.

· Function: Treatment of wrinkles, stretch marks, and mild to normal scars, etc.;

· Side effects: dry skin, slight bleeding, crusting, redness and allergies;

· Use cycle: 6 weeks to 2 months once, depending on the skin recovery;

· Application area: hands, abdomen, thighs, arms and back (if covered with hair, shave first);

· Precautions: The microneedle needs to be thoroughly disinfected before use, local anesthetics should be used, and it is recommended to be used by professional medical institutions;

3.0 mm microneedle

3.0 mm can pierce the skin layer by layer and reach the subcutaneous tissue, so it can only be used in professional medical institutions. At the same time, microneedles of this length cannot be applied to the face, but only to the parts of the body with thicker skin.

· Function: Treatment of wrinkles, stretch marks, scars (severe burns), etc.;

· Side effects: dry skin, slight bleeding, crusting, redness and allergies;

· Cycle of use: You can continue to use it only after the skin has fully recovered;

· Use area: thighs, feet, arms, lower back, buttocks and back of hands;

· Precautions: It can only be used by professional medical institutions, must be anesthetized, and other microneedles are prohibited during the recovery period;

How long does Derma Roller work?

This problem varies from person to person. The 0.2 – 0.3 mm microneedles only pierce the stratum corneum, allowing skin care products to contact the epidermis more quickly and without stimulating collagen. Therefore, the effective time has a lot to do with skin care products. Some skin care products tend to exaggerate the efficacy of the product when they are promoted, so it may be ineffective for long-term use.

In some foreign forums, users have reported that 0.5-2.0 microneedles need to be used 6-12 times to have obvious effects. The 3.0 mm microneedle needs to be used under the guidance of a professional medical institution, and the number and cycle of treatment are selected according to the skin condition.

In terms of material, the microneedle part is almost all made of titanium alloy. Titanium alloy has the characteristics of high strength, good corrosion resistance and high heat resistance. In the medical field, some medical grade titanium alloys can also be used as raw materials for medical devices, prostheses or artificial organs and auxiliary treatment equipment. They are widely used and safe. High performance, so it is not recommended to use non-titanium alloy microneedles.
